Building the world’s largest independent helicopter lessor

The Waypoint Leasing logo

Waypoint was formed by a consortium of investors, including Newlight Partners, and became the world’s largest independent helicopter lessor, focused on heavy, super medium, medium, light twin and light single engine aircraft. Waypoint targeted the commercial sector, with its assets utilized primarily in the oil & gas market, as well as in the emergency medical services, search and rescue and utility markets. Waypoint’s portfolio consisted of 166 aircraft, held on leases in more than 30 countries throughout Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. Following a challenging oil & gas environment and the bankruptcy filing of CHC, Waypoint's largest customer, Waypoint entered bankruptcy proceedings in 2018 and was acquired by Macquarie in 2019.
